New toll system in the Czech Republic

On 1 December 2019 the Czech Republic will launch a new electronic toll collection system for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes. A new toll operator will take over the operation of the Czech toll. The electronic device for the original toll provider is not compatible with the new satellite electronic toll system. It is therefore necessary to replace the current on-board unit with a new one. As a result, the existing toll devices will no longer function as of December.

You need to re-register in the new system and install the new electronic device in your vehicles before 1 December 2019. The pre-registration of vehicles for the new toll system in the Czech Republic is already possible.

An electronic device will be lent to the Vehicle Operator in the same way as before. Vehicle Operators can purchase a new electronic device at more than 200 Points of Sale or online at www.mytocz.eu In the case of online registration, Vehicle Operators will receive the on-board unit by post (free shipping of electronic devices ordered before 30 November 2019 to the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Poland). The condition for receiving or sending a new on-board unit is, in addition to registration, payment of a refundable deposit for the on-board unit in the amount of CZK 2,468 (around 95 Euros).

Note: Until the launch of the new toll system (1 December 2019), Vehicle Operators must continue to use the electronic on-board device of the original System Operator.

The principles of the toll system operation in the Czech Republic will remain unchanged. Charging is based on the type of vehicle and the distance driven on the toll road, where the use of a toll road by a motor vehicle with at least four wheels with the maximum permissible weight exceeding 3.5 tons shall be subject to toll payment.

It is recommended to not to leave the registration in the new system to the last minute, but to take advantage of the period of two months, during which the toll change issues can be resolved before its launch. By registering in time and obtaining a new on-board unit you can also avoid queues that may arise at the toll contact points in December.

Complete information about the new toll system can be obtained on the website www.mytocz.eu or on the customer service line +420 243 243 243, which operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
