LIGHT COMMERCIAL VEHICLES WITHOUT TACHOGRAPHS

The Truckcontroller App is officially accepted by French and UK authorities as a valid tachograph for these types of vehicle.

The German and portuguese authorities are currently in the process of authorisation, meanwhile many German roadside controls already accept it.

As previously reported, we noted an increase in roadside controls in France and Germany of ligth commercial vehicles with no tachograph. The authorities are reviewing the driver's manual records of their activities: driving, work, availability and rest.

In France in particular the police are giving drivers registration sheets to record their activities, as can be seen in the image.

The Regulations:

France: Law of 20 July 1998 on hours of service and the individual control book for the transport of goods by road

Germany: Regulation concerning driving personnel (Fahrpersonalverordnung - FPersV)

United Kingdom: GB Working Time Regulations 1998 (as amended)

Observations on these controls

1. No official format is provided in the regulation, only a possible model. Certain mandatory data fields are however provided.

2. The language of the document is important.

3. Your Truckcontroller App can automatically act as a tachograph, recording your rest, availability, work and driving time.

How to use the Truckcontroller App in case of a control:

1. Drivers need the Truckcontroller App installed on their mobile/tablet. BOTH the DRIVER and the VEHICLE need to be registered on Truckcontroller (both should be contracted for "GPS")

2. When the police request the report during the control, you need to:

1- Click the Tacho App button.
2- Select Language
3- Wait until the report is run.
4- Select S3 Report and click.
5- Select See PDF or send it to the police by email.

The App acts as a standard tachograph and can create all the usual reports . It can also calculate and record salaries for displaced workers (eg Macron and Milog).
