| | FRANCE: FIRST FINES FOR NOT HAVING BLIND SPOT STICKERS

As you will know, since 1 January 2021 commercial vehicles weighing over 3.5T (transporting goods or people) must have “blind spots stickers” on the sides and rear of the vehicle in France.We are now starting to see the first fines for a lack of stickers. The fines are €90 per missing sticker (as 6 stickers must be displayed on larger commercial vehicles, the total liability could be €540). These fines cannot be appealed.Despite a communication from the French Minister of the Interior stating that stickers were only compulsory in urban areas, we have also seen fines issued on the motorway, as the police considered that these vehicles, on their way to unload in France, were going to enter urban areas.
